Angora (born summer 739) is a young girl with an unexplainable power to cause living things to grow or heal themselves. Her appearance is also notable due to her striking green hair.

Angora is currently on a mission to fulfill a request given to her by her dying "Grandfather." She is headed north towards the capitol city of Caris (Citeran), to seek "the center," although it is not known what that could be at the time. She has gained a reluctant traveling companion, Pinter deJersi in her journey northwards.

Background

Angora originally hails from an obscure settlement and community called The Monastery, located deep in the southern Caris jungle. Its teachings of respect and oneness with the environment have reflected heavily upon her life, and she is a dedicated vegetarian and pacifist. She appreciates and loves all types of animals and insects, with a special affinity towards butterflies.

She is also very energetic and enjoys climbing and being in trees. Her guardians initially tried to stop this dangerous behavior but gave up after realizing that it was impossible to completely prevent her from such activities. Although she engages in risky maneuvers such as jumping from tree to tree and swinging from high branches, she has never had even a minor accident.

Unconventional appearance

Angora's greenish hair is attributed to moss and small plants that have adhered themselves to the hair. She has no explanation as to how this could be, nor how the plants have manage to survive and thrive in such a foreign environment or after washings. Her hair is seasonal, and blooms with orange flowers in the spring. Angora is very sensitive about her hair and does not like for it to be touched or handled by anyone other than herself.

She also prefers to remain unclothed whenever possible, though again this strange behavior was not encouraged by members of the commune.

Powers

A mysterious entity whom she calls "Grandfather" allegedly bestowed unnatural abilities upon her not too long ago. As far as it is known, her powers allow her to manipulate and grow living beings, especially plants.

The source of the power seems to be from her hands, though it is possible that she is able to extend it in a wave with her at the center of it. Additionally, Angora's expression of her powers is not always voluntary. Several times she has shown that her abilities are linked strongly to her emotional state, with a spontaneous and explosive 'release' of powers occurring at its peak. Powerful empathetic emotions- in addition to negative ones such as fear and sadness- seem to trigger this effect. More information is needed as to the source and limit of her abilities.

Angora is frequently frustrated with her inexperience and lack of control over these powers, which are still not fully under her control.

Plants

Angora's powers may cause plants to grow. As long as she is in physical contact with the flora in question she can extend it in a manner befitting the plant's normal growth pattern- for example, she cannot force a daisy to grow cactus spines. However there have been some instances in which she was able to cause plants not within her immediate reach to grow, usually within some radius around her.

This ability is not always active, and requires intense concentration to practice purposefully.

Humans

As with plants, Angora can manipulate living people and animals to a degree. Thus far, she has shown that she can reduce fevers and heal small cuts and abrasions. Unlike with plants, Angora experiences an extreme amount of difficulty in being able to work with people. Most of her successes to date have occurred spontaneously or without her control. She strongly wishes to become more competent in this area to be better able to help others.

Since Angora is in very good health most of the time, it is thought that she could be manipulating herself constantly in low levels.

Cost

The use of these powers often comes at a physical price to Angora. Generally speaking the ill effects have been limited to fatigue and mild nausea, but she has also lost consciousness on occasion. With some rest she is usually able to regains her health soon afterwards. This effect suggests that her powers are intrinsically linked with her body somehow, though whether this relationship is beneficial to Angora or parasitic in some way has yet to be fully determined.
