It's original purpose was to phonetically convert the Santri bible into a form that Basori speakers could understand. As such, the alphabet can be written with the Santri alphabet as well as in an Basori alphabet, which was created specifically to cater to Pasori motifs and tastes.

Basori is a general term for the language of the Pasori peoples. It literally means "the true language."
