The Meek is an online graphic novel by Der-shing Helmer. It has been in development since 1997, and has been online to read for free in various iterations since 2007. This nice free comic can be found at the main comic site.

The plot of The Meek follows the progress of three different characters and their acquaintances; a young girl named Angora, the Emperor Luca and the mercenary thief Soli against the background of a newly-waged war. That summary makes the story sounds hella boring but I promise it isn't.
