Ulyer deRisma (born Ulyer Rzma Kan in 703) is the Pasori owner of Vzala Ar/ Red Bear Firearms. He is best known for his brief but dramatic political career and his friendship with the Emperor.

Early life

deRisma was born and raised in the Fourth Clan of the Kan tribe. He gained distinction at the age of 13 for killing two members of the rival Mepat tribe by himself. By his own account he left the tribe for good when he was 16, although there is enough information to suggest that he was in fact expelled from his tribe for not passing the manhood test or for a similar reason.

deRisma was accepted into the Mesdan army in 720 where he coincidentally served for a time with the future Emperor deSadar before being transferred to another unit. After the end of the war deRisma migrated north once more and took up residence in the newly formed state of Treston and began working for Immigration services. He also joined the Friends movement at this time.

Political career

As with many Pasori politicians at the time, his success was propelled by the growing population of Pasori citizens moving into the new states. A glib and reassuring speaker, deRisma quickly gained support from Santri Committee members as well as the younger generation of Pasori immigrants. deRisma gained a permanent seat on the Committee in 731 with eyes on gaining power within Treston's higher offices.

He ran for the seat of Party Secretary in 733 but failed to garner enough votes in the primary round of voting. After the bombing of the Parliament building and assassination of Secretary deVudres he renewed his efforts to gain the seat. Of the three candidates, his position was weakest and was also seen as a hindrance to deSadar's potential success. deRisma eventually dropped out of the running on his own accord, effectively giving his supporters to deSadar's campaign and securing his rival's victory.

Following his political failure deRisma dropped out of public view. His concession was seen as a grave weakness by his former Pasori supporters, and he lost support from many Santri sympathizers as well due to harsh criticisms given during his campaign.

Business career

In 737 deRisma was charged by the Emperor to take over the failing Red Bear Firearms, a manufacturing plant located on the Eastern edge of the country. Thanks to his involvement Red Bear has grown tremendously to become the primary manufacturer of army handguns and rifles. Its success has consequently made deRisma one of the wealthiest citizens in the Territories.

Personal life

deRisma married in 734, but has no children. His ex-wife, Nevva deRisma, was granted separation after their 8 year marriage and is remarried and is currently living elsewhere.

He is also relatively well-known for his pipe-carving. His hand-carved designs lean towards abstract and violent interpretations of nature and fetch a high price on the market.
